Fixing Our Streets Program

Fixing Our Streets will expand preventive street maintenance that saves money and prevents potholes. It will support work making it safer for children to walk to school and allow us to build more sidewalks, traffic signals, street lights and bike lanes.

With the passage of the Fixing Our Streets gas tax last year, the Foster Streetscape Project now has additional funding to do much needed roadway reconstruction and paving work east of 82nd Ave. To most efficiently deliver both the streetscape project work and the paving work, the project is being split into two construction phases. The first phase, which includes all the streetscape project work and the roadway reconstruction/paving work, is anticipated to begin latter this spring and be completed next fall. The second phase of construction work, which includes all the streetscape project work west of 82nd Ave to Powell Blvd will begin as soon as the federal funding is reprogramed. It is currently unclear how long this will take. Design engineering for this section, currently at 60% will continue during this interim period. We hope to be able to bid the job for construction before the end of the new year.
